Nathan Chapel
Financial Advisor & Co-Founder
Nathan is the Co-Founder and a principal wealth advisor at Tru Financial Strategies, a retirement planning firm dedicated to putting their clients first.
Nathan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Leadership from Judson University. Nathan holds the Series 65 securities license and serves as a fiduciary advisor. He is also a licensed insurance professional.
Since his start in the insurance and financial industry in 2009, he has had the opportunity to serve hundreds of families with their retirement needs as both a fiduciary advisor and as an independent insurance professional.
Nathan applies a comprehensive and client-focused approach to financial planning. His work involves assisting clients in evaluating key components of their retirement strategies, including income sources, Social Security considerations, asset allocation, and tax and estate planning. By coordinating these elements, Nathan helps clients develop financial plans that reflect their individual goals and circumstances, with attention to alignment and integration across their retirement needs.
Nathan grew up in the small farming community of Muscoda, Wisconsin, and now lives in Elgin, Illinois, with his wife Christy and their three children. He has been active in his church community since 2000. In his free time, Nathan enjoys family activities, traveling, biking with his kids, riding four-wheelers, and occasionally golfing.
His personal mission is to live out Matthew 5:16.
Scott Svoboda
Financial Advisor & Co-Founder
Scott is the Co-Founder and a principal wealth advisor at Tru Financial Strategies. He’s passionate about helping clients enter the distribution phase of retirement by reviewing their financial picture and exploring custom strategies designed to support their long-term goals.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, in 1978. Scott also holds a Series 65 securities license and serves as a financial advisor with fiduciary responsibility. He is also a licensed insurance professional.
Scott began his career in financial services as an independent licensed insurance professional because he saw a way to make an impact on people’s lives by helping them plan for a successful retirement. “I saw how proper planning can make a difference in the stability of our financial future, and I wanted to help others to do the same.”
Scott takes a thorough and client-centered approach to retirement planning. He works with individuals to assess key areas of their financial strategy, such as income sources, Social Security, asset allocation, and tax and estate considerations. By helping clients coordinate these elements, Scott works with them to build plans that reflect their goals and unique circumstances.
Since 1986, Scott has also served as a volunteer board member on the Board of Directors for H.C.L. Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a purpose to educate patients and physicians and to raise funds for research and treatment for Hairy Cell Leukemia.
Scott and his wife Kim have been active members in their church community since 1985. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, boating, traveling, and flying. They reside in Elgin, Illinois, and have been blessed with two wonderful daughters, Christy and Bethany, a terrific son-in-law, Nathan, and five beautiful grandchildren.

Nathan is the Co-Owner and Co-founder of Tru Financial Strategies, a Retirement planning firm with experience and qualifications in both financial and insurance markets. Since his start in the insurance and financial industry in 2009, he has had the opportunity to serve hundreds of people with their retirement needs.
Nathan provides a truly unique, holistic approach to our clients’ financial plans. Nathan works diligently to ensure our clients’ retirement plans, including Income from assets, Social Security, Medicare Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, and Estate Planning are done properly and are all working together to meet their retirement goals.
Nathan holds the Series 65 securities license and serves as a fiduciary advisor. The fiduciary standard means that he is legally bound to put his clients’ interest first.
Nathan grew up in the small farming community of Muscoda, Wisconsin, and now resides in Elgin, Illinois, with his beautiful wife Christy and son Lucas. He currently serves as the Vice President of his Home Owners Association. Nathan has been actively serving in his church community since the year 2000. In his free time he enjoys playing golf, renovating his house, and working on cars.

Scott works tirelessly to ensure our clients’ retirement plans, including Income from assets, Social Security, and defined benefit pensions are coordinated properly with a goal of their retirement income lasting a lifetime.
